Cambodia Gambling Dens
Thursday, 17. December 2015
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, features 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that highlights numerous amenities aside from the gambling den, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
