Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall betting is against the law. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime location, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, contains 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that highlights numerous luxuries aside from the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
